The exact set-up with Vite and Tailwind is outside the scope of this article, so I'm assuming you have some sort of React project set up and ready to go that also has Tailwind installed and configured. Building the multi-image carousel in ReactĮnough preamble let's build our multi-image carousel in React and Tailwind, starting with the scaffolding parts. The key point in the demo is the carousel.jsx component that we'll see in a minute. Same with Tailwind - use any CSS you like, but obviously you'll have to code the matching styles that Tailwind gives us into your version. Vite is just used to bundle and build our JavaScript so React works, but you can use whatever you like. ![]() Tailwind just allows for rapid building of websites and apps by removing all the fluff of starting with a blank CSS slate and gives us the utility-based CSS building blocks to quickly put things like this together. Tools usedįor this React multi-item carousel, I've chosen to build it using the really popular Vite.js and Tailwind CSS. Īlso, there's a repo with the code in here, react-carousel on GitHub. You can view the finished multi-item carousel here. What we're building here is a simple, minimal (as possible), example that fits the definition above, and to my mind embodies the wider definition of a multi-item carousel built in React. ![]() There are some existing packages in the wild, such as this one react multi carousel, which is worth a look, but often they're too complex, or just not what we need. See the following image to illustrate what I mean: Any child items that overflowed the container's bounds would be hidden offscreen, yet scrollable to bring them into view along the horizontal axis. I wanted to create a fixed-width container that housed several child items (mainly images with overlays for my purposes) arranged horizontally with an equal gap between them. My definition or requirements looked like this: Sometimes it seems the terms 'carousel', 'slider', and others get all interchanged and mingled around to the point where it can be confusing. To be honest, it's difficult to find a solid definition of what exactly a 'multi-item carousel' or 'multi-image carousel' is, let alone finding a good example of one built in React. Really, it was a multi-image carousel with a few extra bits, but as we'll soon see, what we'll build in this article can be easily modified to suit whatever multi-items you'd like to stuff into your carousel. I had a client project recently that required some nifty coding to produce a multi-item carousel in React. ![]() ![]() The Detection Group, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., revealed that one of its larger accounts is a real estate holdings and development firm, a company with a portfolio of 80-plus Class A office and mixed-use commercial buildings in 13 states. In addition, leak detection and prevention technology can automatically send notifications and diagnostic information to any number of recipients they can even integrate with building automation systems or security systems. After all, systems today are capable of merely warning of a leakage (even if minimal), but also can be programmed to shut off the water supply to specific equipment, areas of a building or even the entire facility. Pressure sustains the flow of fluids even if there’s a leak.Īfter careful consideration of the potential sources - and risks - of leakage, facility managers will want to consider who is using the water, or what systems or technologies are connected to it, as well as the consequences if the source of water is shut off.Īnswers to these questions should help facility managers or building owners determine what leak detection and prevention technologies to employ. Within commercial facilities, large domestic water systems, HVAC and hydronic systems, fire-suppression sprinkler networks and process fluid systems contain large volumes of water - many of which are pressurized. The first step to safeguarding a facility from the risks of water damage is to choose a solution that fits the potential for risk. Leak detection is a straightforward task, yet with many variations according to need and technology that varies according to its mission. Among the many advantages of these components and systems is they can be installed in hard-to-reach places to provide consistent, round-the-clock monitoring. Products that help to accomplish this include water sensors, notification systems and alarms, and automatic shut-off valves. The best way to reduce the potential for damage is to use technology designed to detect and stop the uncontrolled water flow. The longer a leak persists, the greater the potential impact of water damage, the insurer notes, which can harm a building’s structure, incur costly repairs and replacement costs, force relocation of employees or tenants, create business interruption, require mold mitigation expenses, and even cause reputational damage. Global insurer Zurich Insurance Group claims data indicates that undetected water leakage in buildings remains one of the leading drivers of noncatastrophic property losses from both a frequency and severity standpoint. Water damage can come from a wide range of sources, such as a burst water pipe corroded or frozen sprinkler systems clogged drains leaking fixtures, faucets or toilets or leakage from outside. Yet, the downstream threat of mold growth can be of greater concern. Of course, there’s the risk posed by water to tenants, building infrastructure and data systems. Essentially, every building is at risk of water damage from undetected leaks - water in the wrong place can easily lead to serious, very expensive problems.Īnd without some means of early detection, by the time a leak is discovered, it’s often too late the damage has begun. In another recent topic, I learned about another program which produces gcode, and I assume other kinds of code for CNC. I'm really sorry that we can't get any help from the developers of Inkscape's gcode tools. I think it's possible Inkscape can produce the proper code, but as I explained before, I'm not positive. If your machine is such that you can import the 3d rendering, and it magically carves it out, then I would say that's some really awesome soft and hardware! That would mean that the machine is creating some kind of code from the image, and the code drives the cutting tools.īut what I've learned from my brief experience with Inkscape's gcode tools, is that you need to give the CNC the proper code. To my understanding, what you need is the proper code to send to your CNC. The question I can't answer, is whether you actually need a 3d rendering to accomplish the CNC carving. Well, if you need a 2D rendering of a 3D object, to use as a model, to carve it by hand, I would say "right". So I can even get you started with the gcode.īut I just can't say with absolute certainty, that Inkscape can do it All. And I've learned a lot about using those gcode tools on my own, trying to help people with them. ![]() As far as I understand, you would need the vector file, no matter whether you use gcode or some other kind of code or technology, with the CNC. We certainly can help you prepare the image, to provide the vector info that will be needed. They have an English section, but they haven't answered any messages in over a year - you'll see some messages from me there - yet the rest of the forum appears to be active.) If so, visit the forum shown in Extensions menu > Gcode > About. (Although if you happen to speak Russian, you might be able to get their attention. The sad, really sad part of it, is that the people who have created Inkscape's gcode tools are apparently no longer available to provide support for them. Wouldn't it take a super advanced system to produce something like that fish plaque, without any sanding? No matter what, you'd still have to do a good bit of sanding, right? Maybe Inkscape can do it all? Hhmm.just refering to my limited experience with woodworking. (Although personally, I don't think I would like that look.) And there's a good chance that inkscape's gcode tools can even to do that part. I'm absolutely positive that Inkscape could do it, if having sharp edges at each change of depth would be acceptable. It's that gentle slope where I'm not sure if Inkscape's gcode tools can create the proper gcode. It seems to be saucer-like, where it's most shallow towards the center (if the fish wasn't there). Notice on the body of the fish (and other places too, but it's more obvious on the body) how there's a smooth contour or slope, from the fattest (middle) part of the body, over to the right edge of the body, just to the right and below the large top fin, where it gently slopes down to the face of the background area? And it also looks like that background area is not flat either. And Inkscape has a lot of gcode tools, which can produce the gcode for most, if not all of it. ![]() Inkscape can definitely prepare the artwork side of it, prepare the vector file. There's only one point I'm not clear on, as to whether Inkscape can do it all alone. ![]() ![]() ![]() Each paper has instructions on it, but I'll also cover them below.
